CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on treatment created by Dr. John E. Upledger following his research at Michigan State University from 1975 to 1983.

Using very light touch—about 5 grams —practitioners release tension in the body to improve how your central nervous system works. This can also help your digestive, breathing, circulatory, and muscular systems, as well as mental health conditions like stress, anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

How It Works

Although "craniosacral" refers to the head and spine, CST treats the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. By placing hands lightly on key areas, the practitioner helps your body relax, release held-in tension, and use its own natural ability to heal and balance itself.

Who Can Benefit?

Because it is so gentle and safe, CST works for all ages, including:

Newborns and elderly individuals.

Pregnant women, as well as mothers and infants recovering from difficult births.

Anyone looking to boost their immune system, reduce stress, or manage physical and emotional health issues.

What to Expect During a Session

Your first appointment usually lasts about an hour and begins with taking your health history.

You stay fully clothed and typically lie comfortably faceup. The practitioner places their hands lightly on your head, lower back, or other areas where your body holds tension.

You may feel calm, energized, or more clear-headed after a session. You might notice quick relief after one or two sessions, though long-term issues may take longer. Occasionally, you may briefly feel more aware of your symptoms as your body adjusts and heals.
